GREYTOWN
SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED SCREENING OF TRAVEL PICTURES. (“Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable screening of travel pictures was given at the Greytown Soldiers’ Club by Mr W. G. K. Wiggins. There was a good attendance of soldiers, who greatly appreciated the entertainment. During supper, the Mayor (Mr A. W. Horton) thanked Mr Wiggins, on behalf of all present, for the enjoyable programme. On Sunday evening, May 31, a Maori entertainment is to be given at the club by Mr H. Manihera’s concert party, and it is hoped to hold entertainments of a similar nature at regular intervals during the winter months.
GOLF TEAM TO PLAY ARMY. The following players will represent, the Greytown Golf Club against an Army team, commencing at 1 p.m. on Sunday: —B. Kiernan, T. Gold, H. R. Feast, E. Maddison, W. Pope, F. C. Bunny, N. S. McLeod, K. Nix, H. G. Carter, G. Brunton. W. E. Everett, J' A. Brooker, W. W. Tully, W. S. Brice, R. Brunton and A. G. Peterson. Any member unable to play is asked to notify the secretary immediately. Hockey. The hockey fixtures for the Southern Zone for Saturday are:— At Greytown. —At 1.30, A v C; at 3 p.m., G v F (khaki).) At Carterton. —B v. D, E (khaki) v. H. TOWN HALL “STRIKE UP THE BAND.” Tomorrow night IVI.G.M’s. sparkling musical comedy, “Strike up the Band,” will be presented, radiating bright music, comedy and Igughter, with Mickey Rooney and Jufly Garland in the principal roles.
