AUSTRALIA’S PERIL

AGAIN EMPHASISED BY MR CERTIN AIR OPERATIONS IN NORTH. DAMAGE DONE TO ENEMY . BASES. LONDON, May 21. Australia’s peril was again emphasised by her Prime Minister, Mr Curtin, today. He said he had spoken of grave possibilities, and he went on: “That warning I now repeat in the sternest terms.”

A communique in Melbourne states: “Planes of the Allied Air Force on Tuesday attacked the aerodrome and installations at Koepang, in Dutch Timor. Two Japanese aircraft were destroyed on the ground, and buildings were set on fire. An enemy seaplane base at Dilli, Portuguese Timor, was also attacked.”

The communique also reports that 12 enemy fighters made a strafing attack on Port Moresby aerodrome. They were intercepted by our fighters, which damaged four of the raiders.
