WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY

MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Councillor Court presided over the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council, held this morning. There were also present: Councillors D. McGregor, A. E. Reid, E. W. Allen, R. Rayner, L. S. Gallon, C. A. Cameron and A. McGregor.

An apology was received from Councillor J. Strangf The treasurer’s report , showed a credit balance at the Bank of New Zealand at £9488. Accounts amounting to £4631 7s 5d were passed for payment. It was resolved to write to Mr Callister pointing out that if the creek which meets the Maungatarere Stream were cleaned out it would allow water to get away and it would do more good than putting extra pipes in Swamp Road. The remedy seemed to be to reduce the water in the creek referred to. ANNUAL MEETING. CR. COURT RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN. The annual meeting was then held. Councillor Court vacated his seat as chairman and the clerk called. for nominations for the ensuing term. On the motion of Councillor A. E. Reid, seconded by Councilloi’ C. A. Cameron, Councillor Court was declared elected by the clerk. The proposer and seconder paid warm tributes to the work carried out by Cr Court during his past term. Councillor Court returned thanks for his re-election.
