PRISONER’S DASH FROM CUSTODY ESCAPE FROM HOSPITAL CLINIC. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 20. In a sensational dash thi’ough patients and staff at a clinic at the Auckland Hospital shortly before 5 p.m. today a prisoner from Auckland Gaol who was attending for treatment made his escape from custody. The prisoner, Robert John Mann, was one of four men brought to hospital for treatment under the escort of a warder. Mann was recaptured shortly after ten o’clock today. He was brought beforeo Mr Levien, S.M., in the Police Court and remanded until Thursday next on a charge of escaping from lawful custody. He was handcuffed to a constable in the dock.
