PUBLIC CONVENIENCES
(To the Editor.)
Sir—lt has been reported in your recent issue that the Masterton Borough Council is planning temporary public conveniences in Masterton. .Why not make an underground convenience which would be more practical, and cculd be camouflaged with shrubs. Instead of spending £BG on a temporary arrangement which may be an eyesore, would it not be cheaper to spend more for something that would be permanent. A convenient place would be near the" old Courthouse in Lincoln Road, the entrance of which would not take up more space than a seat did. Any convenience above ground is insanitary. A case in point is the old convenience which was taken to the Cemetery and which is a disgrace to the entrance of our beautiful Ceineterv. I heard of a small boy going into the Cemetery with his mother, who asked ‘’if only gentlemen were buried in this Cemetery?”—l am, A. M. LATHAM. Masterton, May 19.
