In Cyrenaica fighters yesterday continued their attacks on enemy camps and motor transport, and bombers renewed their pounding of Benghazi and of traffic on the coastal road between Benghazi and Ghemines. Over Malta yesterday, ten enemy aircraft were destroyed and five fighters were damaged. Four British planes are missing from operations in the Middle East, but the crew of one bomber lost on Saturday has now returned. UNDER NAZI PRESSURE ITALIAN PARTICIPATION. IN ATTACKS ON MALTA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) RUGBY, May 19. Italian E-boats, along with bomber and fighter planes, have joined the Germans in recent attacks on Malta, according to an agency message, which also states that the operations of the E-boats, evidently under German pressure have continued to be a topic of cheerful conversation. A distant flashing was seen and this gave the R.A.F. gunners their chance. Up to Monday evening five German and three Italian fighters had been destroyed and foui damaged. Numbers of enemy aircraft have since been seen patrolling the coast, searching for lost crews. The British lost two aircraft, but the pilot of one is safe. Anti-aircraft batteries assisted fighters to ward off the attacks. There was no damage to civilian property. _____
