EDUCATION IN BERMUDA

PREFERENCE FOR AMERICAN TYPE. (By Telegraph—Press, Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11 a.m.) HAMILTON (Bermuda), May 19. The Assembly rejected a British recommendation that an Australian be appointed Inspector of Schools. The Director of Education had asked the British Secretary of State for the Colonies to nominate a man. Members of the Assembly said they believed the American type of education was more suitable for the young people’s future life than the British stereotyped public school plan. The recommendation of an Australian appointee was defeated by 15 votes to 9. The Director of Education agreed to look to Canada.
