The American Volunteer Group devastatingly raided Laokai, in IndoChina bombing enemy trains and causing heavy losses, reports the Associated Press of American Chungkingcorrespondent. Chinese bombers at-' tacked Japanese troops and motor trucks on the Burma Road, inflicting heavy losses of men and material. Central News (China) dispatches from Kunming state that Chinese reinforcements, after fierce artillery exchanges lasting for several days, crossed the Salween River and are now smashing ahead to the relief of_ their hard-pressed comrades in Southern Yunnan.
