The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at neon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Moderate westerly to north-westerly winds predominating. Freshening tomorrow in exposed positions. Weather fair to fine, with moderate day temperatures. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Fair. LOCAL REPORT. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 30.05; shade temperature, maximum 70.3, minimum 53.7; terrestrial, 45.9; sunshine, 3 hours 6 minutes; rain, 38 points. Mr Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today:—Barograph, 30.30; shade temperature, maximum 63.6, minimum 49.2; terrestrial, 38.2; sunshine, 5 hours 48 minutes; rain, 1 point. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 60 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday, and 1 point for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON.—New moon, May 15; first quarter, May 23; full moon, May 30. Draw blinds at 5.35 p.m. today; raise them at 6.54 a.m. tomorrow.
