LOOSE TALK
"'more in Washington’ THAN IN ALL REST OF COUNTRY ACCORDING TO PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT. REFERENCE TO RECENT ADMONITION. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received. This Day, 11.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, May 15. President Roosevelt, at his Press conference, asked regarding the Pacific Council admonition concerning loose talk, said it was quite customary for him to lecture on the war time danger of loose talk. He added sharply: “There is more of it in Washington than in ail the rest of the country put together.” Such lectures as he had given to the Pacific Council are much needed, President Roosevelt said, but he indicated that Wednesday’s admonition had been directed not alone at loose talk . in Washington. He said he had mentioned the Far East. When told that Mr Curtin had said Mr Roosevelt was not referring to him, the President asserted that his words were aimed, not alone at Australia, but at India, Egypt, South America, and in fact every continent. “And at Capitol Hill?” a reporter inquired. “That’s included in the District of Columbia,” Mr Roosevelt replied.
