SIMPLER CLOTHING
IN INTERESTS OF WAR PRODUCTION IN PROSPECT IN AUSTRALIA. CIVIL UNIFORM SUGGESTED. (By Telegranh—Press Association—Conyright) MELBOURNE, May 15. Fewer colours for cloth materials, single-breasted suits for men, trousers, without cuffs, coats without the ornament cuff, pockets without flaps, and fewer styles in shoes for both men and women, may be some of the results of the clothing standardisation which is being considered by the Department of War Organisation of Industry. A spokesman of the department indicated that if the war should continue for another year or two, it was more than likely that the whole civil population of Australia would be dressed in clothes closely resembling a type of uniform. New industries are springing up like mushrooms in Australia; under .the pressure of necessity. Using fish livers which before the war were discarded as waste, a Melbourne company is manufacturing a vitamised oil equal in standard to the world's best, and it promises to prove an invaluable aid to Australian health.
