OF TRAFFIC OFFICER'S CLAIM. INJURIES RECEIVED IN PURSUIT OF SPEEDING CAR. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 14. A civil claim with unique features was heard in the Supreme Court at Hamilton yesterday before Mr Justice Johnston and a jury of 12. _ John Ireton traffic inspector, Hamilton (Mi King and Mr N. I. Smith), sought to recover £975 damages from Sinclair Anderson White, traveller, and his employers, Hancock and Company, Ltd., Auckland (Mr Strang). It was set out in the statement of claim that the plaintiff saw a car pass him in Ohaupo Road at a very high speed. He set off in pursuit, and in turning a corner his car capsized and he was seriously injured. Mr King said that White had admitted a charge of speeding, and been lined in the Lower Court. He contended that White knew he was being pursued and was responsible 101 Ireton’s accident. His Honour said he did not know of a similar case. It, might be necessary to refer the whole matter to the C.our of Appeal. , ' • Counsel conferred on the law points involved and the case was adjourned.
