NEW WEAPONS

RATHER DOUBTFUL NAZI STORIES SOME REMARKABLE CLAIMS. SHELL THAT KILLS BY AIR PRESSURE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) LONDON, May 15. German propaganda continues to emphasise new or secret weapons, particularly on the Kerch Peninsula. The truth of these allusions is most difficult to assess and some neutral reports, from usually reliable sources, go so far as to declare that no new weapon is being used, unless the mass use of flame-throwers can be so called. The Germans are now also mentioning special tractors to haul vehicles over the peninsula’s deep mud, but the most interesting story comes from a Swedish volunteer, fighting with the Germans. He says one of the new weapons is a shell filled with compressed air and another substance. These shells kill by bursting the troops’ lungs, owing to terrific air pressure. The volunteer says he saw many Russian dead, without visible injuries, after this weapon had been used. The weapon, it is stated, consists of large missiles, comparable to torpedoes, fired by specially-constructed guns. Their explosions is effective ovex- a radius of 400 yards.
