LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST WESTERLY WINDS. SHOWERY BUT IMPROVING. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Strong north-west to west winds later reaching gale force in exposed positions. Weather showery at first but improving. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Fair. LOCAL REPORT. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today: — Barograph, 29.70; shade temperature, maximum 67.9, minimum 49.4; terrestrial, 40.8; sunshine, 7 hours 6 minutes; rain, 44 points. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 44 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON—New moon, May 15; first quarter, May 23; full moon, May 30. i Draw blinds at 6 p.m. today; raise them at 6.58 a.m. tomorrow.
