STATE THEATRE

“HOT SPOT.” A mystery-drama which remains baffiingly opaque till the last door shuts will be seen tonight at the State Theatre in “Hot Spot,” in which Betty Grable, Victor Mature, and Carole Landis, with a good supporting cast, hold the attention throughout. Snatched from the job of waitress as a joke by an actor, a sports promoter, and a columnist, to be made into a Hollywood success, the heroine takes to the social life of the night club set as her natural setting, and only her sudden murder ends a phenomenal career. The evidence points all one way, but the end provides a surprise. It is a stirring drama with the acting at a very high standard and with many outstanding scenes. The associate picture will be the brilliant “Happy Landing;” featuring Sonja Henie, the world famous skater.
