OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
RADIO PENNY FUND (To the Editor.) Sir, —May I be permitted to make a suggestion through the medium of your paper? I believe there are hundreds of people in the Wairarapa who would gladly have contributed to “John Bull” in his recent successful Patriotic scheme, but as they coulch only contribute very small sums they refrained from giving at all. Could every home place a box or tin near the radio? Then, each evening, when Big Ben chimes the hour of nine and we spend a minute in silent prayer for our boys the listener could place a penny «in the tin. At the end of the month the equivalent of these pennies could be taken to some central deposit, perhaps “John Bull’s” office, and the only expense would be the office expense. Napier has, I understand, started this successfully. Could Masterton follow and so lead the way for a Dominion Radio Penny Fund. —I am, etc., E. M. CHURCH. Masterton, May 15.
