FIGHTING IN BURMA STUBBORN STAND BY CHINESE. AGAINST JAPANESE DRIVE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 14. A New Delhi communique says fighting is going on 300 miles northward of Mandalay, on the frontiers of three countries. The Chinese are stubbornly resisting the Japanese drive. . R.A.F. ACTION TROOP STEAMER & BARGES ’ BOMBED. ENEMY PLANES DAMAGED AT AKYAB. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.40 a.m.) RUGBY, May 14. The R.A.F., struck successfully at enemy troops in a steamer and barges proceeding up the Chindwin River yesterday, according to a New Delhi communique. This further stated that in a second raid on Akyab, three more enemy planes were damaged.
