ANOTHER GOOD DAY
EIGHT RAIDERS SHOT DOWN AT MALTA FIVE OTHER AXIS PLANES HIT. R.A.F. FIGHTERS BUSY IN LIBYA. LONDON, May 14. Malta had another good day against Axis aircraft. Eight raiders were shot down today, five of them bombers. Five others were hit. A third raid was in progress when the news was being sent. Yesterday was a quiet day and no bombs fell on the island. Fighters had a busy day ovex’ Libya yesterday. Five of our planes are missing from operations in the Middle East. In land fighting in Libya one of our columns dispersed a group of 15 enemy tanks. Another of our columns shelled and dispersed a small enemy tank force.
