REGENT THEATRE

“GIRL IN THE NEWS.” “Girl in the News,” will be finally shown tonight. “RIDE ’EM COWBOY.” Tomorrow night there will be shown for the first time in New Zealand one of the greatest comedy successes of the screen, “Ride ’em Cowboy,’’ with Budd Abbott and Lou Costello in the leading roles. It is a fast-moving presentation full of life, fun and laughter, and is certainly a picture that should not be missed. The scenes are presented in a most attractive manner and there is not a dull moment in the picture. Budd Abbott and Lou Costello are at their best, and that is an assurance that patrons will be provided with something much above the ordinary. These two “fun artists” kept the “comedy pot” boiling over with a new type of humour, clean and clever. In “Ride ’em Cowboy,” the two stprs, Abbott and Costello, have been afforded plenty of situations into which they bring their unique type of comedy. They are seen as two friends who take up the job of cowboys on a dude ranch in order to escape justice. They have been given a big supporting cast of romantic and comedy favourites There will be matinees on Friday and Saturday afternoons.
