SALE AT ADDINGTON RECOVERY IN VALUES. PRIME CATTLE AND FAT SHEEP IN DEMAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 13. At the Addington market there were smaller entries today, with some recovery in values, mainly in primest cattle and fat sheep. Store sheep: There was a small entry, lamb prices being fully firm on those of a week ago. Best wether lambs made to 18s sd; average sorts, to 15s 6d; others to 13s 6d; ewe lambs, to 26s 6d; two-tooth ewes, up to 30s; older sheep, up to 225; shipped ewes, 17s to 18s Id; best local, to 16s 6d; culls, down to 7s. Fat sheep: In a smaller entry prices for prime young ewes were better by fully Is a head, and some lines made values exceeding 265, but though some wethers realised over 345, any increase in this schedule was not quotable Best wethers made to 34s .6d; prime, to 31s 9d; others, from 26s to 28s 3d; extra prime ewes, 22s 6d to 275; good, 19s to 225; export ewes, from 12s 6d to 16s. Fat cattle: The market was good, entries being the smallest for some time. Prices for prime ox beef improved 25s to 30s a head for a small proportion of the penning, but for other classes there was little appreciation. Best beef made about 42s 6d per 1001 b.; medium, to 38s; ordinary, to 355; rough down to 225. Best steers, from £l6 to £l9 2s 6d; medium, £l3 to £l5 10s; others, £lO 10s to £l2 10s; best heifers, £ll 10s to £l3 17s 6d; others, £6 5s to £9 10s; good cows, to £9 10s; exports, £l3 7s; others, £5 to £7 ss. • Fat pigs: There was a big entry of porkers and at the beginning of the sale values advanced on those of a week ago, but late arrivals covered values. Choppers were in heavy supply, but the bacon entry was the smallest of the season. Best porkers made from £2 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d; others, from 30s to 48s 6d; average price a lb., 6d to 7’Ad; best baconers, £4 5s 6d to £4 13s 6d; others, £3 7s 6d to £4 4s 6d; average price a lb., 6%d to 7%d. MASTERTON SALE PRICES FOR FAT SHEEP FIRMER. STORES MAKE LATE RATES. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Masterton sale, held yesterday: —A smaller yarding of sheep came forward, but there was a bigger entry of fats than usual. Store sheep sold very well and made values well up to late sales. There was more competition for fats yesterday, and prices were firmer, fat wethers selling especially well. , ± , The following are the prices obtained:— MA ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, 20s 9d to 21s 6d; w.w. lambs, 17s 6d to 20s; b.f. lambs, 16s 3d to 18s Id; small, 12s- 6d to 13s 8d; ewe lambs, 19s fid; store ewes, 6s to 9s; fat wethers (heavy). 29s fid to 30s, and for lighter sorts, 26s to 28s 6d; fat ewes, 16s fid to 18s fid; lighter. 12s 9d to 14s fid; fat lambs, 22s to 2Gs 9d; fat Down ewes, 23s to 26s Cd; Jersey cows on drop, £10; weaner pigs, Ils. PAHIATUA SALE VALUES REMAIN FIRM. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows, on the Pahiatua weekly sale: A small yarding of sheep, dairy cattle and pigs was offered to a small attendance of the public. Values remained firm in all sections, and we report a total clearance at auction. Quotations: 4-year ewes r.w. S.D. rams (good), 255; m.a. ewes, 20s 9d; low mouthed ewes, 14s lOd; w. lambs (good), 18s 6d to 17s 2d; medium w. lambs, 16s 6d to 14s 2d; b.f. lambs, 17s 4d to 16s 6d; store wethers, 24s 9d; fat b.f. ewes, 20s 4d to 17s 9d; 3-year spg. heifers, £9 15s; weaner Jersey heifer, £3.
