PLUNKET SOCIETY

MASTERTON BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly’ meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames J. Caselberg (in the chair), S. L. P. Free, T. Jordan, E. J. Heffer, H. H. Daniell, E. G. Eton, H. Morrison (Tinui sub-branch), R. Miller (Mauriceville sub-branch), R. C. Drummond, H. R. Keltie, T. W. Wardell, J. V. Gordon and J. M. Coradine. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames I. Bunny, Sortain Smith, J. D. O’Connor, P. Nathan, T. F. Watson, J. C. Broad, N. Irwin, A. F. Stuart. A letter was received from Nirs O’Connor, resigning her position as hon. treasurer owing to illness. The resignation was received with regret, and appreciation was expressed of the valuable services rendered to the branch by Mrs O’Connor. Mrs Irwin consented to fill the position of treasurer meanwhile. Miss Fitzgibbon, nursing adviser to the council, wrote stating that she would visit the branch on May 18. A letter was received from Mrs C. Gawith, president of the country branch of the Red Cross Society, in connection with the co-operation of the branch in the matter of emergency supplies. The annual report and balance-sheet were presented by the president and approved. Mrs H. Morrison and Mrs Miller also read their reports, and were congratulated on the satisfactory state of their respective branches. Owing to the shortage of paper, instructions have been received from the Dominion Council to abridge all reports. Appreciation was expressed of the valuable services rendered to the branch by Mr Owen Jones, hon. auditor. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on Wednesday, June 24.

A vote of thanks was passed to the Methodist Ladies’ Guild for the beautiful work done by them in the making of 18 infants’ garments. The nurse’s report for April stated:'— Masterton, visits to office, adults, 519; babies, 488; older children, 25; total, 1032. Casutls, 27. Visits to homes, town, new cases, 40; old cases, 120; total, 160. Pre-school children seen in homes, 14; new cases for month', town, 16. Pre-natal section, new case, 1; return visits, 5; visits to homes, 2; casuals, 2; total, 10. Outstations: Tinui, sub-branch, Taueru, Blairlogie, Langdale, Tinui and Annedale, 3 visits each; Tinui Valley, one visit; visits to homes, 40. Mauriceville sub-branch, Mauriceville East and West, Kopuaranga, 2 visits each; Ihuraua Valley, 1 visit; new case, 1; visits to new case, 3; to old cases, 22; total, 25.
