LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST OCCASIONAL RAIN. AN IMPROVEMENT LIKELY. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Moderate to fresh southerly to southeasterly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast with occasional rain. Temperatures cooler. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Showery but improving. LOCAL REPORT. Mr 11. M. Buddington reports that 28 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.16; shade temperature, maximum, 66.3; intninium, 54.8; terrestrial. 42.2; sunshine, 36 minutes; rain, 19 points. PHASES OF THE MOON.—May: Full moon, May 1; last quarter, May 7; new moon, May 15; first quarter, May 23; full moon, May 30. Draw blinds at 6 p.m. today; raise them at 6.45 a.m. tomorrow.
