STATE THEATRE
“FATHER TAKES A WIFE.”
“Father Takes a Wife,” will be finally shown tonight.
“WILD GEESE CALLING.”
Stewart Edward White’s “Wild Geese Calling,” will be shown tomorrow night with Joan Bennett as dance hall queen and Henry Fonda as the twofisted lumberjack. Warren William, Ona Munson, and Barton Mac Lane have important roles. The story follows the drifting progress of the lumberjack tripped by wanderlust. John meets and marries a dancer in a tough waterside saloon, and their adventures en route to Alaska are heightened by the realisation that “Blackie” (Warren William), the friend whom John is seeking, and Sally herself are former sweethearts. When he finds Sally in Blackie’s arms John assaults his friend, so setting the stage for dramatic action and climax. Apart from the story and acting, the film is said to provide a scenic treat.
