FACTORY EXPLOSION IN BELGIUM SAVAGE ACTION TAKEN BY NAZIS. WHOLESALE DEPORTATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received. This Day, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, May 1. It is officially announced that 250 persons were killed and more than 1000 .injured in an explosion in the chemical factory at Tessenderloo (Belgium) on Wednesday. The explosion destroyed the factory and the devastation extended over several hundred yards. The cause of the explosion is not known.

The Free Belgian news agency says the factory was equipped with modern machinery for the manufacture of sulphuric and nitric acids. Synthetic ammonia was used in the manufacture of explosives and gas. The factory employed 1000 workers before the invasion, but the Germans had stepped up production.

Berlin announced that 1000 Communists will be deported from Belgium to eastern territories because of the illegal activity of Communist groups, particularly in the provocation of strikes, attempts on industrial installations which serve the population and other terrorist acts. More deportations will be made if the activities continue.
