WOMEN & WAR WORK
REGISTRATION DROPPED IN U.S.A. MORE APPLICANTS THAN JOBS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) WASHINGTON, May 1. At a Press conference, President Roosevelt stated that he had abandoned the voluntary registration of women for war work. Mr Roosevelt explained that the registration idea had been dropped for the present when Mr Paul McNutt, who is in charge of the mobilisation of man and woman power, discovered that there were more women wanting jobs than positions available. The matter may be reconsidered later.
