SERVICE CLUB WEEKLY EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly euchre party held in the Service Club was well attended. Mrs Kinsey was the winner, Mrs Watson being second. The mystery envelope was won by Mr R. Holland, Enjoyable Gathering. Mr and Mrs Lowell and the Misses Lowell entertained Miss June Taylor and Telegraphist J. Perfect at a “parcel evening” in the Parish Hall on Wednesday in honour of their approaching marriage. A very enjoyable time was spent in dancing, the music being supplied by Misses C. and E. Saba. Amusing competitions were won by Misses Myra Cole and Mary Davis and Mr H. Lovegrove. After supper Miss Taylor opened the parcels and Mr Perfect suitably returned thanks. Personal. Mr and Mrs Claridge, Wellington, and Mr Ken Bain, Australia, are the guests at the Royal Hotel. Soldiers’ Concert. An excellent entertainment was given last night by a number of soldiers, ' there being a large audience. The Mayor (Mr J. W. Card), in an address, said that it was particularly fitting that the soldiers should have launched a patriotic appeal, and he thanked them for their effort and for the splendid programme provided. The soldiers were later entertained at supper. Among those who contributed to the programme were Privates Earl, Reid, Annan, Starkey, Sutherland, Aekins, R. MacDonald, Simpson, Culver, Mains, Hall, Ellis, Nairn, Piper Newman, Corporal Berry, Sergeant Lowrie and Sergeant J. McEwen. COSY THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. One of the most enjoyable comedies ever brought to the screen, “Band Wagon,” will be shown tonight, the chief characters being in the hands of Arthur Askey and Pat Kirkwood. In the associate feature, “Three Men From Texas,” a splendid western drama, William Boyd has the principal role.
