OVERSEAS SERVICE

ARMED FORCES APPEAL BOARD SITTING IN MASTERTON. wairarApa cases dealt WITH. A sitting of the No. 4A Armed Forces Appeal Board was held in Masterton yesterday. There were present: Messrs H. B. Lusk (chairman), F. R. Field and W. H. Barry, members of the board; the secretary, Mr J. C. Corbishley, and the Crown representative, Mr J. S. Wauchop. Appeals were heard in respect to men called up for overseas service. The name of the person making the appeal is given in parentheses: — Adjourned sine die: John Robert Alexander Weatherstone, farm hand (Alex B. D. Weatherstone), reservist to remain in Home Guard; John Braithwaite Moore, stud cattle breeder (William Moore); Robert Anthony Warrington, farm hand (John William. Warrington), reservist to grow 10 acres- of wheat; Thomas Oliver Bubb, farm hand (Walter Henry Bubb); Edgar Keith Ticehurst, farmer (Herbert Ticehurst), reservist to remain, in Home Guard; William Richard Sage, farmer (appellant), reservist to remain in Home Guard.

Appeals dismissed: Laurence Patrick Jans, farm hand (E. Allen); Murray Thomas Edwards, farm hand (F. C. Morgan), dismissed at request of appellant, latter not to be called for service prior to July L Adjourned until next sitting: William Walter Chamberlain, general cheese maker (Director of National Service).

Adjourned until sitting after July 1: Walter Norman Cameron, sheepfarmer (Walter Cameron). Mr Walter Cameron was directed to make further efforts to get a man to replace his son and to advertise as widely as possible. As the farm was -not far from towwn it should be possible, said Mr Lusk, to find someone to replace the son.
