BRITISH ORGANISED LABOUR DEMAND GOVERNMENT ASKED TO REDEEM PROMISES. ACTION AGAINST SOCIAL EVILS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, Noon.) RUGBY, April 30. The National Council of Labour issued a May Day manifesto: “The Organised Trade Union, CoOperative and Labour Movements, represented by the National Council of Labour, have given their steady support to a Government of National Union, which undertook to organise the nation for total war. We call upon the Government to redeem its promises by organising, without regard to vested interests, the full resources of the State for offensive warfare, and to deal vigorously with existent social evils which weaken the nation s pur - pose and expose the mass of the people (o exploitation. Such action increases the people's will to victory.”
