WORK WELL DONE

FOURTH BRITISH ATTACK ON ROSTOCK DARING LOW-LEVEL BOMBING. EVIDENCE OF DESTRUCTION CAUSED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) RUGBY, April 27. In face of the further reinforced ground defences at Rostock, the British bombers last night again made low-level attacks, and though many of them were hit, the -actual casualties were small. The crews who returned were confident that they had done their work as well as their predecessors. ' The Air Ministry news service adds that the first crews to arrive saw fires still burning from the previous night. Those fires were increased by another load of incendiary and high-explosive bombs. Rostock was photographed from the air on Sunday, after the third attack. The smoke of fires is spread across the photographs. The main railway station could be identified. The principal hall of the station, near the main entrance has been severely damaged by fire and the roof is off, a great part of it being across the lines. Other station buildings are empty shells. Equally significant is a swarm of minute black dots flocking towards the main entrance of the station platforms. These were people of Rostock waiting, in the middle of the day, for the next train—any train that would take them away from Rostock. Photographs of many parts of the town show what they were leaving behind. Much was still concealed by dense clouds of smoke, but on the edges of these there was ample evidence of the destruction that had been caused.
