OFFENSIVE PLANS
HITLER CANNOT STRIKE TILL SUMMER ACCORDING TO BERLIN CORRESPONDENT. BUT STORES & MEN BEING RUSHED TO FRONT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) BASLE, April 27. Germany’s main offensive against Russia is impossible until the summer, because of Hitler’s vast preparations, which cannot be completed before the end of spring, says the “National Zeitung’s” Berlin correspondent. The greatest attention is being given to the development of the railways and also to air transport lines, which will be augmented to enable fully-equipped infantry divisions and at least eight small tank divisions to be airborne. Nine out of ten trains going to Russian territory are still transporting military stores, but a f
of the present activities mainly concern the reorganisation of supply lines. The Germans are adopting a new principle for them, of rapidly massing large numbers of troops and plan to mask the real points of attack by rushing shock troops to operational sectors at the last moment.
