SESSION RESUMED

QUESTIONS FOR PARLIAMENT. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Any action which the Government may take to exercise stricter control over excessive drinking is now expected to bo taken by regulation rather than legislation, but should the House, of Representatives desire to discuss the question at the session of Parliament which was resumed today it is probable that this opportunity will be given. This afternoon the House will pay tribute to the memory of Mr C. J. Talbot. a former member for Temuka, whose death has occurred since the House was last in session. The House will then adjourn till the evening, when it is likely there will be a secret session to enable members to hear and discuss the latest developments in the war situation and the establishment of the Pacific commands. Should members desire an open debate this session on the war situation the Prime Minister. Mr Fraser, is precared to meet their wishes. An amendment to the War Damage Act may be introduced during the session to cover loss brought about by action to deny opportunities to the enemy, or in other words by following “a scorched earth” policy. A caucus of the Parliamentary Labour Party was held yesterday and one is to be held by members of the Opposition today.
