HOW TO DEAL WITH IT. Those gardening on new ground wiU most likely be confronted with the problem of how to get rid of wireworms. The wireworm, larvae of the click beetle, is easily recognised, being about a quarter inch long and of yellowish brown colour. Napthalene will drive wireworms away from crops, although it will not destroy them. A dressing of this substance should be forked in when preparing ground for seed sowing. Alternatively, a soil fumigant should be used. A good mixture to dig into the ground is one part napthalene to three parts of freshly slaked lime. .
