The Berne correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain states that 30 mere hostages were shot near Rouen as a reprisal for the attack on a German troop train. In addition, 1000 Communists, Jews and sympathisers were ordered to be deported to eastern Europe. The Germans state that a further 80 hostages will be shot unless those guilty surrender by Thursday and also that henceforth civilians will be forced to travel in troop trains as a guarantee of the troops’ safety.
