THIRTY HOSTAGES SHOT NEAR ROUEN REPRISAL FOR TRAIN DERAILMENT ANOTHER EIGHTY FRENCHMEN TO DIE. UNLESS THOSE GUILTY SURRENDER. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, April 20. The Berne correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain states that 30 mere hostages were shot near Rouen as a reprisal for the attack on a German troop train. In addition, 1000 Communists, Jews and sympathisers were ordered to be deported to eastern Europe. The Germans state that a further 80 hostages will be shot unless those guilty surrender by Thursday and also that henceforth civilians will be forced to travel in troop trains as a guarantee of the troops’ safety.
