TINDER the Supply Control EmergenV cy Regulations, 1939, .and the Munitions Emergency Regulations, 1941, the Minister of Supply and Munitions has issued the above-named notice to be published in the N.Z. Gazette dated 23rd April, 1942, applying to ALL TYRES AND TUBES THAT ARE UNUSED OR HAVE BEEN RUN 1000 MILES OR LESS (as defined in next paragraph) and suitable for use or capable of being used on wheels of vehicles except (a) Metal tyres for horsedrawn vehicles, and ((b) Tyres and tubes suitable only for pedal cycles or perambulators. The Notice requires every person who, on Tuesday, 31st March, 1942, had in his possession or control or on order by him any tyres or lubes not affixed to a wheel of a vehicle as part of its normal equipment to make a written return to the Secretary of Supply, Govt. Life Insce. Bldg., Wellington, not later than 27th April, 1942, setting out separately for each different specification of tyre and of tube (a) Quantity (b) Size (usual trade description) (c) Type of tyre i.e. car, truck, tractor or motor-cycle. The Notice directs that every person having or believed to have in his possession any such tyres or tubes shall, whenever so required at any reasonable time by any officer of the Minister of Supply and Munitions produce all, such tyres and tubes to the said officer or satisfy him that he is not in possession of any such tyres or tubes.

WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY. ROADS CLOSED TO HEAVY TRAFFIC. IVOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the Wairarapa Counties Joint By-laws Amendment By-law, 1930, the Wairarapa South County Council, by resolution dated the 19th day of March, 1942, has determined that owing to weather conditions the roads under its control within the County of Wairarapa South, described in the Schedule hereto, while fit for heavy traffic up to:— (a) Three tons in weight, in the case of transportation of any motor vehicle, and (b) One and one-half tons avoirdupois in weight to each pair of wheels, in the case of the transportation of any other vehicle, engine or machine — will be unfit for heavy traffic, exceeding such weights during the period commencing on the Ist day of May, 1942, and ending on the 30th day of September, 1942, and has by the said resolution ordered that heavy traffic exceeding the respective weights shall during the said period cease on the roads described in the Schedule hereunder: — THE SCHEDULE The Roads in the Maungaraki Riding known as Admiral (from “Tin Shed” to Wainuioru River), Wainuioru Valley, Driscoll, Kaiwhata, Craigie Lea, and Flat Point Roads. The Road in the Belvedere Riding known as Mangatarere Valley Road (from McLennan’s Road, to its Western End). Dated at Carterton this 22nd day of April, 1942. E. T. BEAVEN, County Clerk.
