CARTERTON SALE SHEEP MAKE LATE RATES. PIGS BRING CURRENT VALUES. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday There was a particularly heavy yarding of cattle and pigs. Sheep were in short supply. Wc have to report a very good sale. Fat and forward cows made good values, and the demand for yearling dairy heifers was also very firm. Sheep made late rates, and pigs also brought current values. The following prices were realised:— Sheep: Fat lambs, 20s lOd, 25s to 265; Tat wethers, 24s 9d to 265; woolly wether lambs, 13s 2d to 16s 4d; b.f. lambs, to 17s; shorn wr. lambs, to Ils Id; store ewes, to 9s 8d; store S.D. ewes, Ils 3d to Ils 6d; small w.w. lambs, 8s to Us lOd: small ewe lambs, to 8s lOd: medium ewe lambs, to 14s 4d; small b.f. lambs, to Ils Gd. Cattle: Springing Jersey heifers to £9 10s; Jersey heifers, just calved, £7 to £9: Jersey cow, just calved, to £9; cows on drop, £8 to £8 17s 6d; Holstein weaner heifers, to £4 14s; Jersey weaner heifers. £4 to £4 7s; fat cows, £5, £5 10s, £6, £6 ss, £7 2s 6d to £ i 15s; forward cows, £3 ss, £3 16s, £4 to £4 16s; store cows £2, £2 14s, £2 18s to £3; cows and calves. £2 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d; Jersey steers. £4 5s to £6 10s; fat S.H. Cows, to £8 15s; fat heifers, to £7; vealers, £3 to £4.
Pigs: Baconers. £2 17s 6d, £3 to £3 7s; heavy porkers, £2 ss, £2 6s, £2 7s 6d to £2 8s; porkers, 37s to 40s; light porkers, 325, 335, 34s to 365; store pigs, 225. 22s 6d, 245, 255, to 28s; slips, 11s 6d, 12s, 14s to 16s; weaners (good), 10s, Ils to 11s 6d; (medium), 8s 6d, 9s to 9s 6d; (small), 6s, 6s 6d, 7s to 8s; sow with litter of 7, £4; choppers, 16s, 17s 6d to 255.
