AMENITIES FOR TROOPS
BETTER THAN IN LAST WAR. PATRIOTIC ORGANISATION PRAISED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. According to Lieutenant-Colonel Andrew, there is no comparison between the amenities provided for the New Zealand forces overseas in this war and in the way of 1914-18. He has no hesitation iff’saying, he observed, that in this war they are being very well catered for, and that the New Zealand Patriotic organisation is rendering splendid service, meriting the moral and' financial backing of everyone. It took a little time for the civilian soldier to adjust himself to active service conditions. Lieutenant-Colonel Andrew ■ said, and during that period, especially in the case of soldiers from New Zealand, where a high standard of living was enjoyed, there were some who were apt to “go to market” about things if they were not all not as they thought they ought to be. With experience m the front line, however, and comparing what was done for them with vzhat some of the Allied forces received, their outlook generally- changed. Moreover they realised that for its size, New Zealand was doing a splendid job in every way.
