MEAT WRAPPINGS
PAPER SUPPLIES RUNNING OUT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 17. The time is not far distant when it will be necessary for customers to take basins to shops to collect meat because of the shortage of greaseproof paper, wrapping paper, and labour for delivery, according to a representative of a large butchery company. “The position regarding greaseproof paper is extremely serious,” he said. “Basins appear to be the only suitable containers.” “We are urging customers to bring baskets, even sacks,” said another butcher. The Auckland Master Butchers’ Association recently considered a proposal to cut out all meat deliveries because of a shortage of labour, but decided to carry on while labour was available.
