FIRES IN SUNDERLAND
STARTED BY LUFTWAFFE. ACCORDING TO BERLIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) * LONDON, April 16. A Berlin communique stated that the Luftwaffe last night bombed the harbour and shipyards of Sunderland and started big fires. It is now known, a London cablegrame states, that twelve persons were killed, including five babies, in the enemy air raid on a north-east town reported last night.
