STATE THEATRE
“IRENE.” “Irene,” will be finally shown tonight. “DUMBO.” A London film critic has described "Dumbo” as “the finest thing the screen has ever done, possibly the finest it will ever do.” Praise of that calibre is always somewhat suspect, but it is no extravagance to say that this latest Walt Disney fantasy, which will be shown tomorrow night is one of the finest technicolour talkies the screen has ever known. Dumbo is a little waif, the only child of an adoring mother elephant. But Dumbo, who has the nicest eyes and nature, has ears that are the size of barrage balloons. For this reason he is the laughing stock of the circus and finally becomes one of the circus clowns, much to the disgust of the more dignified elephants. Walt Disney treats the world to a story so beautifully told and so exquisitely produced that one is left a little breathless.
