ELECTRIC POWER

MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD INCREASE IN REVENUE. SECRETARY MANAGER’S REPORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) . The revenue from sales of electricity in March was greater than was expected and showed a satisfactory increase on both the corresponding month of last year and on the estimate, reported the secretary-manager, Mr George Brown, at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board. For the year the net revenue was £71,156, against £67,552 in the nrevious year. The position in connection with bulk supply was equally satisfactory. There was no obvious explanation for the more or less unexpected increase in the revenue in March. The number of consumers connected during the year was 123. The number of ranges installed, 311, was a record for one year. Consumers now totalled 6332, as compared with 6201 twelve months ago. Urgent work had, interfered with construction work on the additional feeder capacity in Masterton, reported the chief engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan. The delivery of 11,000 volt insulators from the New Zealand manufacturers was awaited. Until they arrived a start could not be made with the change over from 3000 volts to 11,000 volts reticulation. Detailed surveys and plans had been completed for the second section of the additional feedei’ capacity to supply Masterton and the northern area.
