INDOOR BASKETBALL
MASTERTON COMPETITIONS. LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS. The local indoor basketball championship advanced a further stage last evening when the second games of the first round were’ played in the Town Hall before a large attendance. Several of the teams were short of their usual players owing to influenza but the standard of play was good. The following are the results:— Ladies’ Section. W.F.C.A. 18, Post and Telegraph 2; State Kitchennette C 23, Rangers B 0; United 4, States Kitchenette B 1; State Kitchenette A 15, Banks 7; C. Smiths 4, Woolworths 2; Rangers A 11, McDuffs -4; Codys 12, Garages 4; W.F.C.A. (junior) 13, Cathies B 0; Cathies (8) drew with Sparklets. Men’s Division. Ruahine 14, Solway 2; Masterton 7, A.S.C. 6. The games were controlled by Misses Burgess, Hanley, Palmer and Messrs Costello, Harrington and Read. The scorer was G. Davis and the time-keeper Mr J. Hayden.
