CARROT FAILURE

A WAY TO OVERCOME IT. Some people have difficulty in growing carrots; the plants reach a certain stage, then collapse. If the following method is tried it is possible they will be more successful. Dig the ground well and work up to a fine tilth. Stretch the line across the plot and draw the soil up to it to make a small ridge. Make more ridges a foot or fifteen inches apart until the whole plot is dealt with. To make the drills press the handle of the rake lengthways along the ridge. Sprinkle in some wood ashes, then sow the seed.
