FIVE-YEAR WAR
PREDICTED AS MINIMUM BY AMERICAN AIR VETERAN. VAST AERIAL PREPARATION ' NEEDED. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 13. Colonel Eddie Rickenbacker, a flying ace of the Great War, addressing pilots at Mitchell Field today, said: “This war will last for a minimum of five years, barring miracles, with the possibility of lasting for ten years, and since no navy can function effectively] without superiority or control of the air, which also goes for land forces, we will need at least 300,000 pilots to achieve victory—loo,ooo instructors and 200,000 combat pilots.”
Colonel Rickenbacker has just completed a nation-wide tour of inspection and instruction of all Army Air Force stations, at General Arnold’s request.
