MALAYA CAMPAIGN

GENERAL BENNETT’S REPORT NOT TO BE PUBLISHED. STATEMENT BY MR CHURCHILL. LONDON, April 13. In the House of Commons, Mr Churchill stated that Major-Gen-eral Gordon Bennett’s report on the Malaya campaign had been received but was not suitable for publication. The Government was collecting information, including that of people'who had escaped from Singapore. General Sir Archibald Wavell no doubt would furnish a report when he had time. Mr Churchill declined to prejudice the issue, especially while many of those concerned were prisoners of war. All his information, he said, was that the people of Malaya had been thoroughly friendly. He gave an assurance that none of the lessons to be' learned from our 'experience in Malaya were being neglected.
