NEW CALEDONIA

READY TO MEET ATTACK STATEMENT BY FREE FRENCH LEADER. THREAT SEEN TO MADAGASCAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 12. The admiral added that he thought it improbable that Japan would attack any other Free French islands in the Pacific at present, since the general movement seemed to be westward, which might be interpreted as a serious threat to Madagascar. He declared that the latest reports indicated that the Administration of Madagascar was suppressing sentiments favourable to the Free French.
