WASHHOUSE GUTTED

FIRE IN LINCOLN ROAD. A detached washhouse, with a woodshed and conveniences, at 52 Lincoln 'Road, Masterton, was gutted by fire last night. It is not known how the fire started. The house, which is administered by the Public Trust Office, is occupied by Mr J. G. McFarlane. The fire had a big hold before it was discovered. The Masterton Brigade was summoned by street alarm and telephone at 11.32 p.m. and Superintendent T. B. Clark, with 12 men and two machines, answered the call. The rear portion of the dwelling was slightly damaged by heat and smoke.

It is understood that the washhouse was not covered by insurance.
