OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
NEW CHRISTIAN ORDER (To the Editor.) Sir, —We are reading and hearing a great deal about the churches’ campaign for a new “Christian order.” In their scheme of things are they planning for the destruction of the liquor traffic? Unless this is destroyed lock, stock and barrel first, their scheme is going to fail and fail hopelessly. To build a new “Christian order” a solid foundation is the first thing needed and this we ? will never have until this liquor traffic is wiped out. It is and always has been a stumbling block to anything at all worth while in reforms. Is there one minister of a church in, say the Wairarapa, who is going tomake some attempt in this campaign ef theirs to fight this wretched traffic? If not what right have they or we as New Zealanders to expect or ask for a i “New Christian Order.” —Yours, etc., | A WOMAN. Masterton, April 7.
