NAVY LEAGUE

MASTERTON LADIES’ AUXILIARY. ACTIVITIES OF PAST YEAR. | The membership of the Masterton .-branch of the Navy League totals 300, according to the annual report of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, with the school membership at 487. The latter showed an increase of 30. School members of Solway College, St. Matthew’s School, St. Bride's Convent, Te Whiti and Central Schools have made 127 garments during the year for seamen. The auxiliary has continued to supply woollen comforts for the men of the sea services. The wool committee lias received 1167 garments. Nine local men joining the Navy and Fleet Air Arm have been given an outfit of woollen comforts. A refund was obtained from the Provincial Patriotic Council of the amount spent on wool. During the year the Food Committee packed and forwarded to Wellington over 2 000 tins of food. As shipping space is limited, the auxiliary has decided to concentrate on providing warm clothing, which is supplied to merchant seamen as well as to the men of the Royal Navy, minesweepers and trawlers. The League supported the Queen Carnival effort and sent a number of parcels 6f clothing, reading matter, etc., to the Seamen's Mission. Thanks are expressed to many helpers.
