STRIKE PROSECUTIONS
CRITICISM AT LABOUR CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. '.I The action of the Government in taking legal proceedings against freezing works strikers at Westfield was criticised by several delegates, chiefly those connected with the Auckland freezing workers and waterside workers, at the annual conference of the Labour Party in Wellington yesterday. Some delegates contended that action should also have been taken against the employers for alleged breaches of the award. It was alleged that one strike had started when the workers contended that inferior quality meat was being sent to New Zealand troops. Auckland delegates stated that the Auckland Trades Council had received no satisfaction when these allegations were referred to the Government.
