SPLENDID RECORD
NEW ZEALAND PILOT AWARDED D.F.C. BORN IN NEW PLYMOUTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright I (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, April 6. The D.F.C. has been awarded to Flight Lieutenant Ronald Edward Bary, of the 250th Squadron of the R.A.F., who was born in 1915 at New Plymouth and was educated at the Palmerston North High School. Flight Lieutenant Bary now lives in Liverpool. He was commissioned in April. 1939. The official citation says: “Flight Lieutenant Bary participated in operations over Dunkirk, in the Battle of Britain and the evacuation of Crete. In the present campaign he has led the Squadron on numerous occasions, with coolness and skill and has participated in covering bombers and attacking vehicles and planes on the ground. He shared in the destruction of a Messerschmitt 110. Flight Lieutenant Bary has been a great help to less experienced pilots and his courage and devotion to duty have set an excellent example to all.”
